Building Habits

When it comes to building new habits I have forever tried building a million habits at the same time. I just want to be the best at everything so I try to do everything all at once, because I don’t want to wait by doing one thing at a time. The result of this however has become a very yo-yo achieving life. You do very well for weeks, then your burnt out and too stressed to do anything.  Next you’re all over it again and reaching new heights before crashing back down again.

It’s amazing though how well we do once we simplify things. We don’t have to achieve everything all at once, just take one step at a time. Often those extra habits start building without even focusing on them because there isn’t an overwhelming pressure to achieve them. Once you check off the new habit and it has become almost second nature, tackle something new an continue reaching new heights.

  1. Great stuff Dan, love this! 🙂

I always say it’s best to tackle 1-2 healthy habit changes at a time for the exact reasons you’ve highlighted above. It can be easy to get excited about new changes and want to overhaul our lives, but this is not necessarily sustainable. Instead taking small steps will help the process from being too overwhelming and it will allow us to more successfully implement changes.

I’m pleased to hear that you’ve found a way to implement healthy habits into your life in an enjoyable way. I look forward to reading your future posts!

Loving the content, keep doing what you’re doing 🙂

PS – On a related note, I’m on the hunt for feedback for my new show The HERO Podcast! It’s all about creating healthy habit. The episode with Derek Doepker may be of interest to you where he discusses how to make lasting changes.
